 Seems like we can't upload .svg's to the wiki.  So here's an Inkscape sample of a [[http://cs.unm.edu/~ackley/591/doc/inkscape/sample-inoffensive-grid-from-tiled-clones.svg|grid with event window]].  Note that file is really meant to be downloaded and opened in inkscape, rather than just viewed in a browser..  There is additional stuff (in a 'Parts' layer, and outside the bounds of the page) that is not visible in a typical SVG rendering.
+Granted, that grid might be //too// light for some purposes.  It's meant as an example of using tiled clones to get a nice regular grid, and being able to control its appearance via editing the master objects.
